National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage are to due increase

A reminder for all employers that the statutory National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage are to due increase from 1 April 2017. In turn, the voluntary Living Wage will also increase for its signatories.

Employers will be required to prepare for these increases by:

  • Financial budgeting and forecasting;
  • Updating employees and payroll of the new rates of pay (to take effect from 1 April 2017); and
  • Assessing long-term workforce costs to ensure future sustainability (the national living wage is expected to increase to £9 per hour by 2020)
