Acuity acted on behalf of Rightacres Property Co Limited in the exchange of a design development agreement between Rightacres and the BBC for the development of the new BBC Wales Headquarters which is set to be the key building of the redeveloped Central Square, Cardiff.
This will create the centrepiece of the new business quarter between Central Station and the Millennium Stadium, the largest commercial development scheme in Wales. The building will be the new home for BBC offices and administration and TV/radio broadcasting activity. Staff will relocate from Llandaff in 2018. Around it, eight more buildings are planned over the next five years including three tower blocks, a new coach station, offices, cafes, restaurants, hotels, student accommodation and residential apartments totalling circa 1,000,000 square feet of new space.
This comes on the heels of acting for Rightacres in the strategic acquisition of development plots in the square, and exchanging an agreement for lease for the letting of part of the first building in the Square to Blake Morgan LLP in December 2014 .
