Successfully defended a public sector client against unfair dismissal claims from 2 ex-employees. Having advised on the legal issues and potential dispute resolution options, we filed a robust response and made a nominal and time-limited settlement offer. The claimants promptly settled on terms favourable to our client without admission of liability. Our robust defence of the claims reinforced the message to other employees that our client would not tolerate breaches of health and safety/disciplinary rules. Post-settlement, as a preventative measure, we advised on improvements to our client’s disciplinary procedures in line with best practice.
