Our Public Sector team is a specialist team of lawyers advising on all aspects of Public Sector and Local Government, including regulatory, transactional and project work.
Our team has experience of acting for a large range of public sector bodies (including non-departmental public bodies, regional development agencies, urban development corporations, central government and over 40 local authorities) covering a range of sectors (including education, planning, leisure, waste, infrastructure, defence, social housing, residential care, construction, health, fire services and police). Many of the members of our team have also practiced as in-house lawyers for public authorities, including as part of secondment arrangements to public sector organisations.
We provide advice and support across a range of regulatory, transactional and project work, including vires, governance, procurement, state aid, human rights, Freedom of Information, data protection, planning, environment, highways, litigation, employment, commercial
(including shared services, strategic partnerships and intellectual property), corporate, property law and transactions. We are appointed to a number of framework panels of legal advisers by the public sector.
We pride ourselves on understanding more than just the complex legal issues associated with the public sector transactions. The breadth and depth of experience of our team in working closely with the public sector has allowed us to develop an understanding of the priorities, constraints and challenges of and facing the public sector. We work alongside legal in-house services to provide support and complementary services.
We appreciate the increasing pressure to provide improvement and greater efficiency in public services, particularly through partnering activities. We are committed to supporting the public sector in meeting these challenges and to using our experience to provide our clients with practical and commercial legal advice.
