Jonathan is recognised in various publications as an expert in Commercial Property and a leader in the Welsh legal sector. He has twice been voted Wales Property Lawyer of the Year. He works on high profile transactions across England and Wales including the £500M Cardiff International Sports Village - Cardiff’s largest current development scheme, Cardiff City Stadium development, the development of Callaghan Square, Wales’s most prestigious office scheme, the Welsh Assembly Debating Chamber and Bluestone Holiday Village, Pembrokeshire.

He is currently working on major urban regeneration schemes across England and Wales. Jonathan has a particular interest in affordable housing, technology and urban regeneration projects.

In his spare time he enjoys football, tennis and skiing and he is a black belt in Karate.

  • Lead lawyer on the largest ever regeneration project in Wales, the £400m Central Square redevelopment including large scale infrastructure and public realm works, a new transport interchange, offices, retail and hotel
  • Advised Cardiff City Football Club on the real estate and construction aspects of the £50m development of Cardiff City Stadium, as lead lawyer on the land, construction and commercial contracts.
  • Lead lawyer in £200m mixed use residential, affordable housing and secondary school development in Southwark, London including all negotiations surrounding planning application, design team appointments, legal and estate management structure, land acquisition, school development agreement, construction contracts and rented housing forward funding. 
  • Pioneered a new joint venture structure with Wales’s largest housing association to deliver pension funded affordable housing without grant funding.
  • Lead adviser on the £500m Cardiff International Sports Village development, a mixed use leisure, residential and retail project in Cardiff Bay.

Education

Jonathan was educated at Oxford University after which he joined Clifford Chance where he spent six years, principally in the real estate team. Following this he was head of property at Capital Law and joined Acuity as head of real estate in 2005.
