Professional Background
Stephen was educated at Bristol University and the College of Law in Guildford. He trained at Herbert Smith, London. He then joined Eversheds, Cardiff as an assistant solicitor and was appointed as a partner in 1998. Stephen went on to found Acuity and is the managing partner. Stephen has overseen the growth of the firm from its original 2 partners to 12 partners and circa 50 staff.

Area of Practice
Stephen's area of legal practice is corporate and commercial work focussing on transactions, projects and commercial contracts. Stephen is recognised as a leading corporate and commercial specialist by the leading legal publications Chambers and Legal 500.

As well as supporting clients in a legal advisory role, Stephen works with clients in a commercial director role giving strategic direction and support on projects. He has a particular focus on the technology sector as well as infrastructure and regeneration projects.

Recent successes have included:-

  • advising on and acting as commercial director on the sale of Informavores Limited to;
  • advising Mansford Helios on its development arrangements and contracts in connection with the £150 million + development of the Rossington inland port;
  • advising Lifecare Residences on its development and funding of retirement villages, including its most recent project which is an £80m plus development in Battersea;
  • advising Capita plc on a series of acquisitions in the IT services sector; and
  • working with Licentia Limited and MyPinpad Limited on developing a secure payments solutions for the electronic payment and processing sector.
