Responsible relationships
and managing impact

We have a CSR committee who represent different functions and role levels. They meet regularly to ensure our activities are focused on where we can make a difference across these key areas:

Community, culture and charitable support

We raise awareness amongst our people, suppliers, clients and others that we work with across a range of areas from celebrating cultural activities, being active to getting involved in the work of local community and charitable groups. Our people are enthusiastic at giving their time and in fund raising. We have actively supported groups such as a local food bank, the Institute of Welsh Affairs, Marie Curie, NSPCC, Ty Hafan, Teenage Cancer Trust and many others. Every year our people vote for our Charity of the Year - in 2017 the vote was won by the South East Wales Deaf Children's Society.

Responsible employer

We help our people to develop to their full potential by providing learning and development and a work environment which has equality and diversity as core principles. For example we invested in a solicitor to become a qualified ILM coach and trainer to develop the skills of our people. We are also a signatory to the Law Society’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter, the flagship diversity initiative of the legal profession.

Work experience opportunities

Our links with educational institutions fuels an ongoing work experience programme. We regularly host local students for work experience at our main office – a typical year being an intake of over 30 students.

As part of a long term sustainable solution to manage our environmental impact we reduced our carbon footprint by moving to a building with a BREEAM high performance rating. We have implemented the recycling of paper, waste and printer/photocopier toner cartridges and the use of video conferencing and phone meetings. To help us make ongoing improvements we are members of:

Legal Sector Alliance, an inclusive movement of law firms and organisations working together to take action on climate change and adopting environmentally sustainable practices.

Sustainable Development Charter which encourages and enables organisations to become more sustainable – in particular, to make decisions that produce the best long-term outcomes.

In kind support

We provide pro bono advice, sit on boards as directors and trustees, and act as mentors and volunteers to local and UK wide organisations.

Our social side

We enjoy hosting hospitality events, networking, quiz evenings and activities run by our outdoors club ‘Acuity Active’. These are for our people, clients and the charities that we support.
